This database is the resource of a real 3-Dimentional structural model of the multiple cellular organism in the developmental time course. Ascidian tadpole-type larvae consists of only 2,600 cells that differentiated into homologous tissues as those of vertebrates such as a brain, nerve cord, notochord, endoderm, muscles. By using our database, we can follow each of cell lineages at a single cell level from an egg to a tadpole larvae. Our web-resource will be very much helpful for deciphering the morphogenesis of a body plan in the multi-cellular organism. Although a morphogenetic movement during development is contributed by each cell, the body plan should be understood from the viewpoint of all cells of a whole body. Therefore, to understand dynamics of the body plan, biologists need such a digital and high-resolution platform of multi-cellular organisms. In the future, our 3-D database can be utilized for integration of molecular data such as gene expression profiles and protein localization. We believe that this database must be one of the best resources of developmental biology and systems biology.
